Grilled Flank Steak – Marinated With Rosemary Falksalt Flakes

If you like grilling, you may enjoy this recipe. As you well know, the flank steak is a tougher cut of meat and may require some special treatment before you put in on the grill. The best way to treat this cut of beef is to marinate it – preferably overnight, but if you don’t have time 2-3 hours might do the trick.

For this recipe you will need:

  • 2 lb cut of flank steak

For the marinade:

  • 3 tbsp of olive oil
  • 4 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 4 cloves of garlic finely minced
  • 2 tbsp of honey
  • 2 tsp of Rosemary Salt by Falksalt
  • 1 tsp of freshly ground pepper

To make the marinade mix in a bowl all of the ingredients together. Whisk well to incorporate all the of the ingredients.

Place your flank steak into 1-gallon ziplock bag and pour into the bag your marinade. Lock the bag while trying to get out of it as much air as you can. Give it a little “massage” to make sure the stake is covered in marinade. Marinade in the fridge for 3 or 4 hours – overnight would be the best.

Preheat your grill to about 450° F. Grill your flank steak for 6 minutes on each side for “rare”.

If you want to, you can save your marinade and bring it to simmer for a few minutes in a small saucepan. You can use it to serve your steak with it.

Compound Butter With Citron Falksalt Flakes

If you are a fan of compound butter, here is a recipe for you. For this recipe, you will need 1 lb of unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons of olive oil (or your favorite oil), 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of Citron Sea Salt Crystal Flakes by Falksalt, and some black pepper to taste. Make sure your butter is room temperature, that is soft enough for you to be able to incorporate other ingredients.

Step 1 – Mix your ingredients!

Combine all of your ingredients in the bowl of a mixer. If you are using a hand-held mixer, any suitable bowl you might like. Start mixing on the low speed to incorporate the butter, oil, and lemon juice – once these become one, you can turn to medium or high speed and continue to whip the butter for abut 5 minutes.

Step 2 – Roll your log!

Scrape out your compound butter onto a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper in a form of log. Roll the parchment paper, or the wax paper, whichever the case might be, encasing your “butter log”. You can apply the pressure where needed if you want your log to look ununiformed. But don’t worry too much how it is going to look, most important is that it will taste terrific! Put your log in a freezer for 2 hours.

Sept 3 – Cut your butter and enjoy!

After two hours in the freezer, your compound butter is ready to be sliced and enjoyed!

It happened that today we were cooking some fish and decided to try this butter. We put a slice on each fillet just as the fish came out of the oven. Yum!

The Falksalt Difference!

Once you tried Falksalt, you are hooked for life! The Falksalt is made in Cyprus by purifying and evaporating the Mediterranean sea water. During the process, the small crystals are forming that look like miniature pyramids. The surface of the salt produced is particularly well suited to flavor and infuse the salt with some great flavors.

In the video below, Luke Hodgson, the general manager of Falksalk UK, explains the process and why the product is becoming such a hot commodity.
